Scammer.info

Last revised by LocalRoot - 22 Jun 2026, 18:46

Scammer.info is an online forum for reporting scams, discussing suspicious callers, sharing anti-scam information and documenting fraud tactics. It is built on the Discourse forum platform and is mainly focused on phone scams, phishing, tech support scams, spam, malware and scam-related research.

The forum is part of the wider scambaiting and anti-fraud community. Its value comes from user reports and discussion rather than from being an official law enforcement database.

History

Scammer.info was founded by Cameron "Thunder" Lobban on 16 December 2016. The original aim was to give users a public place to record scam numbers, scam websites, scripts, email addresses, payment details and other information connected with fraudulent activity.

The site later moved into a broader community role, with categories for scam reports, phishing, malware, general discussion and carrier reports. The homepage describes the site as a community for identifying unknown callers, reporting phone fraud and sharing scam intelligence.

Forum Structure

The site's public categories include:

  • Announcements.
  • Wall of Shame.
  • Scams.
  • Information.
  • General Discussion.
  • Carrier Reports.
  • Spam.
  • Phishing.
  • Malware.

The Scams category is the largest public area and contains reports about phone numbers, suspicious companies, scripts and patterns noticed by users.

Use by the Community

Users typically post reports, screenshots, call details, scammer numbers, suspicious websites and warnings about current tactics. Other users may then add context, check details, compare reports or explain why a particular message or call is suspicious.

The forum format makes it useful for fast-moving reports, but it also means the quality of individual posts can vary. A forum thread is community discussion unless it is backed by documents, recordings, official notices or other reliable evidence.

Ownership and Administration

The site was created by Cameron Lobban and later moved away from direct day-to-day management by its founder. Current administration and moderation are handled through the forum's own staff structure.

As with most large forums, moderation is important because scam reports can involve living people, businesses, phone numbers and allegations of wrongdoing.

Strengths and Limitations

Scammer.info is useful for spotting repeat patterns and finding community reports about current scam tactics. It can also help victims see that a call, email or website is part of a wider pattern.

Its limitations are those of any user-generated forum. Posts can be incomplete, emotional, outdated or based on partial information. Strong claims need evidence, and users should avoid turning reports into harassment.
